ABOUT JOINING CHOIR
If you want to join choir, you can just get in, and also get into acappella without the audition.
(Reason being that choir could train your voice and bringing you into acappella is no problem.)
But if you still want to gauge your voice from our super awesome instructor during the audition,
you can still join us. (His comments are golden.)
Choir will commence on Tuesday, 5th May @ 6.30PM, 73-03-18.
There will be no choir practices this week.
There will be a voice check by one of our comm members during the first day, to see what section you are in.
ABOUT JOINING ACAPPELLA
If you want to join acappella only, you will have to go through an audition singing one verse and one chorus of a song. (Any song! But no screamo songs please.)
Those who want to audition for beatbox, also can, like our electric_data@hotmail.com, feel free to knock us out.

11:45 PM Hi everyone!~ i'm here to help choir express our gratitude to every single person who came for a concert, be it as helpers or audience!
Grandioso IV wouldn't be a success without all of you.
Thank you to our VIPs, Principal - Mr Chia Mia Chiang, advisors - Mr Ian Wong and Miss Faith Leo, Instructors - Mdm Lin Li Ying, Miss Noella Lim, Mr Goh Eu Joe, seniors of NPChoir, PSP, SAG, Emcees, ushers and many other CCAs members who made time just to attend our concert. so sweet! and of cos to choir members' family and friends' support, as well as people whom we don't know. Very glad to see all of you willing to spend your evening with us. Really, every single one of you gave us the strength to perform nicely tonight. it's wonderful to have you guys out there with us, esp when your laughters and cheers are our sore encouragement!

The first half of the concert will have performances from the entire choir, and our a cappella group, LinkAge;
and then the later half of the concert will consist of a short original musical.

This is a post for the freshies (:
FIRSTLY, WELCOME TO NP! :D NP with all our hills and many canteens! Hope you can adjust to poly life soon enough. I love poly life compared to sec school cos we don't have to wake up before the sun rises everyday <3
SECONDLY, you're all very welcome to join us in NP Choir, of course. Practices will begin on 5th May 2009 (Tuesday), 6.30pm at 73-03-18 (: Choir is very fun if you make it fun, so come with the mindset to enjoy and learnnnn :D then you'll have a great time!
THIRDLY, as some of you know, NP Choir has an a capella group, LinkaGe. If you are interested in joining LinkaGe, there are some regulations you need to be familiar with.
Being in NP Choir means you can join LinkaGe. Practice will be three times a week in this case.
If you feel that it is too stressful or tiring for you, you can opt to go for the audition. You would need to prepare one verse + chorus of a song. Any song will do. Auditions will be 29th April 2009 (Wednesday), 6.30pm at 73-03-18. firstly, very warm welcome to ngee ann polytechnic.
hope you enjoy your life here for the next 3 years. =)
and seriously, your life would be so much more fun if you join a CCA.
cos you get to know more friends and spend time together after school.
so, we strongly encourage you to come down to the CCA Fiesta at Convention Centre today (20/4/09) and tomorrow (21/4/09) and take a look at the CCAs available in NP.

in case you couldn't catch up with the whole lot of announcements today, i shall blog it here.

Wednesday (15/4/09)
Aca practice at 6.30pm in room 73-03-18.
People who have not yet settled their costume for aca, please meet at FAR EAST PLAZA at 11am to shop for suitable items for your costume. if you can't find us, call me, clare or gracey!
Thursday (16/4/09)
Musical: Full cast to be there, including calefares at 12pm. Miss Faith Leo will be there to see. So don't throw face ar. Be sure of your parts.
Aca practice as usual, 6.30pm in room 73-03-18.
Friday (17/4/09)
DANCE PP REHEARSAL.
Victoria Theatre 1pm SHARP. FULL DRESS.
Most likely to be dismissed by 5pm.
Saturday (18/4/09)
DANCE PP.
Be in school by 12pm SHARP.
same thing, bus will bring us there. around 4pm can be dismissed.
Performance Outfit:
Girls
Gowns with WHITE covered heels. Remember to bring small brooch for you shawls.

oh beloved choir, today's is our very first full dress rehearsal. =)
i can hear that everyone is very tired, especially musical ppl who were in school since 9am. *applause for them* haha.
our Grandioso is coming in less than 2 weeks time.
and it's gonna be a long week, esp for those who are both in aca and musical.
please take good care of yourself, your health, your throat, your vocal cords and PLEASE DON'T DON'T DON'T FALL SICK!!!

7:43 PM HI CHOIRRRR,
Hope you've had a great weekend (:
Tomorrow (Monday) practice will be at LT26 at 6pm, please don't be late so we can start on time.
It's a FULL DRESS rehearsal, so please bring your clothes and shoes! (girls, please bring your HIGH HEELS!)
For all the girls with no gowns, bring your heels first so you can rehearse in them.
ALL ALTOS *MUST* BRING THEIR HEELS because you can try on your gowns and see if it's too long, because the tailor will be there.
AS OF THIS MOMENT, it's the 12th of April, and that means we are, what, FOURTEEN DAYS AWAY FROM THE CONCERT. We only have a few more rehearsals left, and in two weeks we'll be on that NAFA stage in front of almost 400 people. It sounds damn freaky and scary, but I truly believe we'll put up a greaaat show :D and we'll have AWESOME FUN doing it.
So see everyone there tomorrow at 6pm! (:

Below is info of The Battle at Red Cliff
The Battle of Chibi (literally, "Red Cliffs") was another classic battle where the vastly outnumbered emerged as victor through strategy. In this battle, however, Cao Cao was on the losing end.
In the winter of 208, Liu Bei and Sun Quan – two warlords who later founded the kingdoms of Shu and Wu respectively – formed their first coalition against the southward expansion of Cao Cao. The two sides confronted at the Red Cliffs (northwest of present day Chibi City, Hubei). Cao Cao boasted 830,000 men (historians believe the realistic number was around 220,000), while the Liu-Sun coalition at best had 50,000 troops.
However, Cao Cao's men, mostly from the north, were ill-suited to the southern climate and naval warfare, and thus entered the battle with a disadvantage. Furthermore, a plague that broke out undermined the strength of Cao Cao's army. The decision by Zhou Yu, military advisor to Sun Quan, to use fire also worked effectively against Cao Cao's vessels, which were chained together and thus allowed the fires to quickly spread. A majority of Cao Cao's troops were either burnt to death or drowned. Those who tried to retreat to the near bank were ambushed and annihilated by enemy skirmishers. Cao Cao himself barely escaped the encounter.
