As promised, the calendar of the practices is out noww for both feb and march.
So can just take a look.
I know its really packed, but hey, lets just do a good job for the ppl who are going to watch us!!
For our rehearsals, we would be practicing with guest such as Sing Sheng who will be joining us for the finale, as well as dance groups who will be dancing for the acapella pieces.
Also timing is tentative, as I would be rearranging the time that most everyone can make it.
Venue of the rehearsal would be at LT26. For people having internship at march, let me know again, we will work smth out tgt=)

Hi! Here are some updates for you:
There will be no A Capella or Choir practices next week. Practices resume after CNY (9 & 10 Feb '11)
Covered Bad Romance, JTWYA and Hurt. Please look at the line-up for references.

Please take more initiative and learn the songs you have expressed preference for, because you will be preparing for a part in the song.
Instructions to members:
- Revise all of your parts because we are starting to have preliminaries for the selection of parts.
- Once you have revised, start searching for live performances (Grammys, AOL Live Sessions, Music Video Awards, Pepsi Smash, Madison Square Gardens) and covers (by YouTube celebrities and A Capella groups) that we can use for reference.
- Start thinking of concepts for the songs that we are doing, especially if you are involved in that song. Concepts can mean themes, lighting, positions on stage, props, costumes etc. Do share your ideas with me so I can email Joe. I will hound you for them! [Deadline: 4 Feb '11]
- Study the songs we are learning properly. The whole point is so we can become more independent, develop our ears to listen to music and own the music that we make. You do not have to know the notes precisely, but do listen out for your part and contribute during practices.
Things to expect for the next practices:
Be prepared with your own parts you have learned so we can revise them more efficiently.
Be prepared with self-learned parts for songs that are still in progress or have not been learned yet. You have two weeks to study them so no excuse!
I will be checking up on you to make sure you are doing your work! You have been warned.
From me to you:
Every Monday, I send you a text asking about your attendance for practices that week. Please reply those texts latest by Tuesday nights, as I have to report to Joe latest Wednesday morning. Please don't make me have to call you! Thanks :)
When you know you will be late for practices, do text me to inform me why and what time you can reach practices. This is so we do not end up waiting for people and wasting time, and we can get started on a different song instead. (And Pearl and I do not end up wasting our minutes calling people. A simple text will suffice!) Thank you, we very much appreciate it!

11:33 PM Hellos people! =)
Haha! Tickets are finally out! =D
Those who came for Choir just now, thank yous for all your hard work.
& y'all have received the tickets y'all are required to sell.
So to refresh your memory (in the future as well), I'll post some things to note here.
1.
Make sure you received 10 tickets and the numbers flow in sequence (e.g. 1,2,3,4,5 not 1,3,4,5,6).
2.
There are 3 parts to the ticket. Keep the part that's stapled together, give the other 2 parts (remind your friends to not lose any of those parts, they'll need it to enter).
3.
DO NOT MISPLACE ANY TICKET (or else you have to go to the police station to report lost).
4.
Whatever you do with the tickets, always inform Huiqi first (e.g. giving the tickets to someone else to help you sell).
5.
If you get someone else to help you with ticket sale, collect the money+ticket stub/unsold tickets back at the end of the day before reporting to Huiqi.
6.
Try to sell as many tickets as possible. If you need more tickets, inform Huiqi.
Please know the seriousness of this. Making a police report is not fun.
& I do hope everyone will do their best for this.

Meeting Place: Bugis MRT
We will meet first, then be led by our dear polar bear Shili to the vendor's place at somewhere around North Bridge Road. :D So don't be late yeah, not so nice to keep people waiting! I promise I won't be late. xD
It won't take very long, since they'll just be taking measurements for the gown. (: We should be done in an hour maximum. (:

Grandioso is coming real soon! HAHA! Excited~? XD
& so~ We need to sell tickets! XP
The tickets are not out yet, so sorry. =(
But do start asking around for the people who are interested in getting tickets alright~? =)
Your family, friends, classmates, coursemates, lecturers, relatives, etc etc.
Do start booking them!
& get a list of people who want to attend our concert.
Everyone will need to do your best to get 10 (or more!) people to come.
Do your best alright~ Haha, NAFA quite expensive.
& it's nice to have audiences you know watching you performing.
Cause Grandioso's gonna be grand~
It might be your very first and last time performing in an Arts school's theatre!
Each ticket is $12.
& I'll be asking from y'all the list of people whom you're selling the tickets to (for updating me's sake).
So do help the organising committee with this important task alright!

For those who attended choir yesterday, we learnt Hakuna Matata and Can You Feel The Love Tonight, both taken from The Lion King Medley. (:
We will be singing the entire medley for Grandioso! :D Are you guys excited? I AM AHAHA I LOVE MEDLEYS. Not because Melody and medley sound similar, okay. D: But yeah, Lion King is a favourite amongst many people because hey, have you not watched Lion King at least once in your life? You have, right. :D
So. We will be learning the rest of the medley on Friday, which also includes excerpts from Circle of Life, I Just Can't Wait To Be King and Be Prepared. (:

Hey you!
As you all know, A Capella practices for Grandioso (26 March '11) have already started and practices will only get more intensive from here on out. I really hope that you can commit to this so we can put together an impressive show for our audience and make our efforts completely worthwhile!
Here's a summary of what happened in today's practice:
Songs discussed
- No One audition- all girls are expected to audition for the solo part of No One, so please prepare
- Love the Way You Lie- Elaine doing lead?
- Hurt- Elaine request
- Just the Way You Are- Lucas as lead
- Fireflies- Only if Brian can do the fx
- Angels Cry
- Like a Man
- Lady Marmalade- girls' request
- Fate- Min Hwa & Toby
- Mia- Min Hwa
- Cry me a river- lead v. backing v. guys on fx
Instructions to members
- Practice your assigned jingles, make sure each part has a person singing it
- Girls, please think of some songs to suggest (preferably songs by girl bands so we have more leads in one song) PREPARE AUDITION
- Girl juniors must set aside some time to learn the girl songs from repertoire (e.g. Damaged, Be Without You, Poker Face etc.)
- PROACTIVE in learning your own parts (ALL OF YOU)
- Bass and percussion, please learn your parts very very VERY WELL (we are all counting on you!)
- Resource other versions (perhaps from live versions?) of the songs we are working on (YouTube is your best friend)

- Difference between BEAT and RHYTHM
- How to differentiate the layers in a song, and how to translate it into an A Capella piece

Click the link below and put in your names for the slots that you'd like to help out with booth duty! There's Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Each day has 2 time slots that you can sign up for. First time slot is 11-3, second one's 3-6, look carefully before you sign up! I highlighted the timings in yellow so you can see better.

*Some things to take note of before keying in your name!*
1) DO NOT EDIT OTHER PEOPLE'S NAMES AND TIMINGS. Respect them ok don't be so cheeky!
2) Don't play with the spreadsheet. (I mean, like... erm... if you find the boxes and lines intriguing you can play using your own excel? You open one file and play k don't play with this document my dear handsome boy/pretty girl. :P)
2) Be honest with your entry. Make sure you are really coming for that time slot before you key it in, don't keep editing it once you've confirmed your slot.
3) Backing out of your duty will pose a problem for us, please please please don't do that. :(
4) Help out for the full slot. Don't see friends and run away! If you signed up to be there from 11-3, be there from 11-3. If you signed up to be there from 3-6, then be there from 3-6.
5) If you wanna help (love you thank you!) but are unable to be there for the full slot, please key in your name and under comments, state your reason why you cannot serve the full slot!

I am Pearlene and if you attended AGM 2010, you'd have known by now that I'm your new president of NP Voices, 2011! :) Basically I'm blogging this to say hi to all of you. If you see me and know my name, do come and talk to me because I want to know all of you! Ignore the labels, I'm just a normal student who hates homework just like you. (Admit it!) I won't dao you I promise. Hehe.
A recent upcoming event that we will be having is Open House next week! Please give me and my committee a few days to settle some administrative matters and we will update you on what we have and the plans we have for that day. We just took over so honestly, we're still trying to make sense of what we have to do and I ask for your patience and forgiveness. Do bear with us for this period of time! We will do our best to float our boat! >:)
