Hi guys, this is urgent!!!!

Ok let me point form things so that my message is POINT BLANK. (Is that a pun?)

Print the Membership Registration form.

Print the Health Declaration form.

Fill the forms in.
If you are not in choir and won't see us today, head over to the club room at Blk 73, level 1 (the area where we played the colour game during camp).
Find our room, it is at the furthest end from Munch.
There will be pockets on the door, slip in your forms at their respective pockets.
Alternatively, you can pass it to us from 6.30-8.30pm at our studio at level 4 as we are having choir practice today!

FAQ

Eh this thing very mafan leh can I just heck care?

THE ANSWER IS N-O, NO. PLEASE DO PRINT THEM AND GET IT DONE. Unless you don't mind attending cca with no cca records, not getting cca points, not getting the points you should be getting when you turn up for practices and contribute to performances, and will not be upset when you get nothing for cca awards while the rest happily get bronze/silver/gold awards. Haiyah basically: Just Do It.

What if I just printed the form today but do not have my parent's signature?

Just pass it to us first, we'll do our best to buy time but you have to at least pass us the form filled up to the best of your ability so that we can show SDAR you tried.

What if I don't have a photo of myself/didn't bring it/my dog ate the photo of me?

In this case, just submit the filled in form to us, we will try to buy time with SDAR but please please do bring your photo by next Tuesday.

What if I don't hand it in by today?

There's no guarantees man, we don't have your name, we can't try to argue with SDAR. Do your best. If you really have your difficulties, contact me and I'll see how I can help.

What if I am not in school today?

Ok in this situation, I shall very kindly help you fill in the form. Take the initiative to call me and I will take you through the forms over the phone, verbally asking you for the necessary information. Please do not abuse this help that I am offering, if you are in NP just do what you should. Call me any time from 6.30-8.30pm. I will put my number on our fb page!

K guys, I do have confidence in all of you that you'll do it but I'm just naggy lah k. Please help me spread this message around all Voices peeps whether you are from aca or choir so that everyone is kept in the know about the urgency of this matter. It is to be done by TODAY, 1 JULY 2011.

Upcoming A Capella Performances

There are quite a few events coming up so I thought I'd share a little bit more about what to expect!

1. Klavierensemble Concert
Date: 16 July 2011
Place: The Music Box
Songs: No One & Peaches & ONE MORE SONG
Commitment: Klavier has arranged some combined practices for their finale (Peaches), which will fall on Saturdays. (Dates TBC)

*Klavier has asked if two members from Voices would like to be emcees for their concert! Anyone interested? (Drop me a text!)

2. NP Council Chairman Appreciation Dinner
Date: 22 July 2011
Place: Convention Centre
Time given: 15 minutes
Songs: TBC
Commitment: Rehearsals on 5 & 13 July

3. The Arts House Performance
Date: 10 December 2011
Place: The Arts House (Clarke Quay)
Songs: TBC

More info: This event is organised by some students from Arts and Business Management (Year 2), and they have invited several musical groups to perform for this event. They also mentioned that they would be holding auditions for this performance in early/ mid July.

Please head over to this form I WANT TO SIIIIIING to let us know if you are available for these upcoming performances so we can start working on which songs we want to perform! The songs we will put forth for each performance will depend on who is able to commit to them :)

In the meantime, keep your song requests coming and continue brainstorming for ideas and concepts for the song pieces!

Hi singers!

Now for the ACA updates! This week, we'll be having two practices:

1. Wednesday (15 June '11), 4.30-9.30pm

- Learn parts for "No One", Alicia Keys

- Teach "No One" choreography

- Finish up "Peaches"

- Revise new songs (e.g. LTWYL, Tonight etc.)

2. Thursday (16 June '11), 4.30-9.30pm

- Audition leads for new songs

- Brainstorm for concepts for new songs

- Other fancy stuff!

I think I might be needing to use the Facebook group to share videos and stuff so please refer to that more often!

There will be no practices next week because of camp so the practices this week will be especially important!

HEY GUYS! (This is a really long post. Please patient and read it through, I would really appreciate it.)

We will be having quite a few performances coming up for both Aca and Choir so please come for practices during the holidays! There will be increased practices and I know you guys want to enjoy your holidays (I do too!) but bear with us, I'll do my best to arrange the schedules such that we don't slack behind in practice and yet have time to enjoy the term break!

For choir, we'll be learning the dance steps to the Lion King Medley (seniors, please rejoice k people loved it) that Andrew and Anngie choreographed! Please note that we'll be having dance practices from 2pm - 5.30pm on the following days:

Tuesday, 14 June

Wednesday, 15 June

Friday, 17 June

And practice will be as usual from 6.30-8.30 on Tuesday and Friday. That would mean...

Tuesday, 14 June: 2.00pm - 8.30pm

Wednesday, 15 June: 2.00pm - 5.30pm (for people not in Aca)

Friday, 17 June: 2.00pm - 8.30pm

I know it seems like a lot but there will be breaks and time for lunch is included so it's not that bad, really! I hope all of you will be with us on this one: the satisfaction gained from learning the whole dance is quite big. The seniors cheered when we finally got everything put together. I also urge you to take the dance seriously and learn dilligently to facilitate ease of practices. There's a lot of people to coordinate and I'd really appreciate it if everyone could give their attention to whoever is trying to communicate something across. We can have fun together but please listen when you are supposed to.

Ok that being said, here are the upcoming performances that we've already have lined up!

Hi lovely people of choir! Here are the details of the performance as promised! As I have told you, we will be performing to attract the crowds to enter the centre and attend their flea, or to hype up the event! It is definitely performing for a good cause and I'm glad so many of you signed up for our very first performance as a choir! :)

Hello everyone! :D

HEY GUYZ!

So... CCA Fiesta is coming with the new academic year coming very soon. We need people to man the booth and of course, perform on stage! Below is the link for the duty roster. Please be responsible and sign up for duty at slots where you don't have class. Please do not use the excuse of CCA Fiesta to skip classes and get me into trouble! :( If they check it's me who will get it. ANYWAYS! Our effort is worth it, concert was successful and we managed to keep it going. We'll be having a formal thank you dinner with the Principal and some other people who contributed to the concert and maybe another informal one planned by us. Keep reading this space and I'll let you guys know if anything! Good news is that our principal, Mr Chia, really liked the concert. THUMBS UP, PEOPLE! :D

Hi all!!

As promised, the calendar of the practices is out noww for both feb and march.

So can just take a look.

I know its really packed, but hey, lets just do a good job for the ppl who are going to watch us!!

For our rehearsals, we would be practicing with guest such as Sing Sheng who will be joining us for the finale, as well as dance groups who will be dancing for the acapella pieces.

Also timing is tentative, as I would be rearranging the time that most everyone can make it.

Venue of the rehearsal would be at LT26. For people having internship at march, let me know again, we will work smth out tgt=)

There will be no A Capella or Choir practices next week. Practices resume after CNY (9 & 10 Feb '11)

Instructions to members:

Revise all of your parts because we are starting to have preliminaries for the selection of parts.
Once you have revised, start searching for live performances (Grammys, AOL Live Sessions, Music Video Awards, Pepsi Smash, Madison Square Gardens) and covers (by YouTube celebrities and A Capella groups) that we can use for reference.
Start thinking of concepts for the songs that we are doing, especially if you are involved in that song. Concepts can mean themes, lighting, positions on stage, props, costumes etc. Do share your ideas with me so I can email Joe. I will hound you for them! [Deadline: 4 Feb '11]
Study the songs we are learning properly. The whole point is so we can become more independent, develop our ears to listen to music and own the music that we make. You do not have to know the notes precisely, but do listen out for your part and contribute during practices.

Things to expect for the next practices:

Be prepared with your own parts you have learned so we can revise them more efficiently.

Be prepared with self-learned parts for songs that are still in progress or have not been learned yet. You have two weeks to study them so no excuse!

I will be checking up on you to make sure you are doing your work! You have been warned.

From me to you:

Every Monday, I send you a text asking about your attendance for practices that week. Please reply those texts latest by Tuesday nights, as I have to report to Joe latest Wednesday morning. Please don't make me have to call you! Thanks :)

When you know you will be late for practices, do text me to inform me why and what time you can reach practices. This is so we do not end up waiting for people and wasting time, and we can get started on a different song instead. (And Pearl and I do not end up wasting our minutes calling people. A simple text will suffice!) Thank you, we very much appreciate it!

Haha! Tickets are finally out! =D
Those who came for Choir just now, thank yous for all your hard work.
& y'all have received the tickets y'all are required to sell.

So to refresh your memory (in the future as well), I'll post some things to note here.

1.
Make sure you received 10 tickets and the numbers flow in sequence (e.g. 1,2,3,4,5 not 1,3,4,5,6).
2.
There are 3 parts to the ticket. Keep the part that's stapled together, give the other 2 parts (remind your friends to not lose any of those parts, they'll need it to enter).
3.
DO NOT MISPLACE ANY TICKET (or else you have to go to the police station to report lost).
4.
Whatever you do with the tickets, always inform Huiqi first (e.g. giving the tickets to someone else to help you sell).
5.
If you get someone else to help you with ticket sale, collect the money+ticket stub/unsold tickets back at the end of the day before reporting to Huiqi.
6.
Try to sell as many tickets as possible. If you need more tickets, inform Huiqi.

Please know the seriousness of this. Making a police report is not fun.
& I do hope everyone will do their best for this.

HI PEOPLE. :D

For those who attended choir yesterday, we learnt Hakuna Matata and Can You Feel The Love Tonight, both taken from The Lion King Medley. (:

We will be singing the entire medley for Grandioso! :D Are you guys excited? I AM AHAHA I LOVE MEDLEYS. Not because Melody and medley sound similar, okay. D: But yeah, Lion King is a favourite amongst many people because hey, have you not watched Lion King at least once in your life? You have, right. :D

So. We will be learning the rest of the medley on Friday, which also includes excerpts from Circle of Life, I Just Can't Wait To Be King and Be Prepared. (:

As you all know, A Capella practices for Grandioso (26 March '11) have already started and practices will only get more intensive from here on out. I really hope that you can commit to this so we can put together an impressive show for our audience and make our efforts completely worthwhile!

PROACTIVE in learning your own parts (ALL OF YOU)

I am Pearlene and if you attended AGM 2010, you'd have known by now that I'm your new president of NP Voices, 2011! :) Basically I'm blogging this to say hi to all of you. A recent upcoming event that we will be having is Open House next week! Good I hope=) By the way, as I smsed, the Annual General Meeting would be on this friday (31.12.10), 6PM @ LT79. Light refreshments served and CCA points given. (incentives) The agenda of the meeting would be the 27th committee passing down to the 28th committee, so the 28th committee would be introduced formally to ya'll. Please note that starting from next week, choir practices will stop for 2 weeks due to common tests. =(
Choir practices will resume on 21 December.
However, for those caroling for eg. 19 December, there will be practices before 21st.

As for A Cappella practices, Cheryl will inform everyone again.
Unless she says that A Cappella practices are canceled, please do your best to go for practices.

Hi people! (:

So finally, the t-shirt design has been approved and sent for printing. (:

There are a few changes to what I mentioned before. Firstly, instead of all the polo t-shirts being white, we now have decided to have purple t-shirts for the girls and white t-shirts for the guys. This is due to the material being thin and er, you can kind of see through the thing. :/ So yeah, we decided to have purple instead of white for the girls to protect our modesty a little bit more. :D

The price of each t-shirt is thus $6 after subsidy. (: Don't complain ah.

HELLOSS!! TO ALL VOICES MEMBERS!!!

The 27th committee is recruiting our Grandioso VI annual concert public performance committee. =)
Grandioso is our Voices very own annual concert around April next year, combining Choir and Acapella. =)
We will get to showcase our talents to our family, friends and even to important figures of Ngee Ann like the Principal.
Y'all can check out the previous concerts' videos in Youtube too. =D

The Committee serves as a chance and platform for you to learn skills, develop skills and also for you to know more important people which will really help you. =)
But I guess the most important thing is that you get to play an important part in the Concert that means so much for the club. =)

Okies so what are the roles:

1. Secretary
Basically, secretaries’ jobs covers all the administrative tasks, including meeting minutes, sending invitations.

2. Treasurer
Gives financial advises with regards to the budget given to us and doing financial report after the concert, including claiming of funds.

3. Publicity Officer
Designing tickets, concert booklet and publicity poster. People with design/publicity experience will have higher chance of getting this post. Do volunteer yourself if you have the skills.

4. Stage Manager
In charge of all the stage plans, including lighting and sounds. People with PA experiences do step out and try out for this position.

5. Events Coordinator
Will be in charge of scheduling events, especially rehearsals and actual day of performance. Arrangement of performance sequence and synopses to be done by ECs.

6. Ticketing Officer
In charge of ticket sales and ticket report. Collection of tickets money to be done by T.Os and doing up a report after the concert, making sure there’s no loss of ticket stubs and money.

7. Welfare Officer
In charge of food and welfare. Costumes, especially for girls, are settled by them. Booking of transports will be done by these people too.

8. Human Resource Manager (NEW ROLE~)
In charge of managing people internally and externally, for example to inform student volunteers that help out in the concert their roles and the timings and stuffs. It’s a new role=)

Basically the above 8 roles are the roles that we are recruiting, please do volunteer yourself no matter you are Year 1, 2 or 3.
We would love your help but as this is an important event, we would need to conduct interview for it.
Choose the top 3 roles that best suits you! =D
& no worries, there will be experienced seniors to help for as many roles as possible.
So y'all won't have to work everything out all alone. =)

So if you havent been back to choir, its time to be back to upodate yourself and learn up the new songs. Its a good opportunity to perform, so please comfirm your attendance for this performance!

Dear singers! Let me give you an update on what's currently going on in A Cappella!

Alrighty, the recent most upcoming performance is the Lasalle A Cappella Concert.
Due to the upcoming exams and YOG, I've managed to persuade the coordinators to have the concert after the exam week (2nd week of Sept).
Which means it'll be in end Sept around 3rd/4th Weekend (17th-19th or 24th-26th).
Those confirmed singing in the concert, please keep those days free.
Keep your Wed and Thurs free for practices as well.

Next, for our song selection, Joe has emphasized on wanting every song to be directed towards a rock/live concert feel.
That means, we will start doing live versions of songs rather than the album version.
The difference is that everything is modified to arouse the crowd, from what they see to what they hear.
Thus, stage presence is a very important factor.
If say, you're the lead for this song, or you want to train for the lead, you have to search for the live versions of the song on YouTube and observe how the lead presents him/herself on stage, same for the backup singers.

We are having an performance on July 16, FRIDAY at Suntec Convention Hall level 4.
Reporting time at the studio would be at 430PM.
You can come at 4, as excuse letter would be provided from 4 onwards.

Heya guys!
Be reminded that there would be practicess on tues and friday for choir
Acapella would be on wednesday and thursday for some ppl.
Same location, same timing.

Anyways we would be having a performance soon on july 16, friday, night. Its good to go for and is easier cause before that we could have practice and warmupppss prior the performance. So be sure to set that day free=)

Hey all! :D

So as you may or may not have heard, we are going to have a new NP Voices tee! (: Yay, so happy right. (:

It will be a white cotton polo T-shirt, with dark purple designs. (: We wanted something different from your normal white and black, eh. Polo because it'll be more smart if we were to wear it for less formal performances, white because you can wear it with black pants, and purple because our gowns are purple. (: And also cause purple is a pretty colour!

The design is on its way to completion as we are still in the midst of doing some last changes. I will most probably upload the final design here for all of you to take a look by this weekend. (: But don't worry okay, it's nice. (: Trust us.

Also, the tee will cost around $5 to $6. It's already been subsidized, don't complain.

Even though there are so many sizes right, to facilitate ordering and distribution of tees when they arrive, we are going to limit you to slightly fewer choices than this. :/

We are taking out Ladies' XXS and Men's XXS from the choices because see, I don't think many of our girls have sizes so small (for Ladies' XXS) and the Men's XXS size is actually pretty equivalent to Ladies' S. Also, we took out Ladies' XL and XXL because uh, you can wear guys' size. (: So yeah, basically what is available for you is all the sizes in bold. (:

The reason why we are giving you so many choices (like whether the girls' want Ladies' or Men's cutting) is because we realised that actually, the Ladies' cutting is rather large already. (: For example, I could probably fit into a Ladies' L, but I prefer a Men's S, lol. (: Yeah, some of you might think the same way, so that's why we have so many choices.

I think the only difference is that Ladies' shirts are shorter and have the waist line thingy, while Men's shirts are well, Men's shirts. (: Straight-cut and longer.
